I have absolutely not been reading the papers about the KPE. So if you’re anything like me and you haven’t, here’s the thing: if you drive from Holland Village to the Upper East side (HAHA!) via the PIE or ECP exclusively, there is no ERP surcharge. BUT! If you go by the PIE, through the KPE and on to the Fort Road entrance of the ECP, it’s like a Team America SURPRISE, COCKFACE! moment when you drive under the gantry and your IU goes “beep.”
Sneaky sneaky sneaky! Do they really need so much money from us? With the way oil prices are shooting to $100/barrel I think people will either start driving less or stop completely (c’mon, Ginette sold her car), or go Hybrid… and with the costs of hybrids being relatively unattractive right now, chances are it’s going to be one of the first two. I guess there’ll come a point where all this will end up in one cataclysmic collapse and everyone will start looking to hybrids as a serious alternative. Or something, I dunno.
