I paid a visit to CBGB’s two years ago, two months before it shut down. The place was really quiet with a few kids hanging around outside and in the bar; I bought a tshirt and sat around for a while. Then I returned home, enlisted in the army and right after I get out of BMT I read the news that’s pretty much gone, except for the merchandise.
Two years later I’m reading an article in the New York Times about one of those infamous family arguments about who gets the spoils from the dead husband’s estate — absolutely ridiculous, but I guess that’s what money does to people.
