Two newspapers are in trouble — the Trib is trying to ward off bankruptcy and the Miami Herald is looking for a buyer that hasn’t shown up yet. I know the digital age is awesome and all, but… people! Nothing feels like a newspaper when it comes to the breakfast table! It’d suck if we ended up having to catch up on the news with Blackberries and laptops.
We don’t have this problem in Singapore I guess — The Straits Times pretty much has monopoly here as the only full-sized newspaper around, and I don’t think we can support two of those right now with the amount of local news (or lack thereof) we generate; everything else is aggregated from AFP/AP/Reuters. I hope the newspaper doesn’t die; it’d be a pretty sad day if it does.
