So the European Union is going after Microsoft for bundling Internet Explorer into Windows, 10 years after the US government tried doing the same thing. One thing that baffles me is — without a browser pre-installed, what are you going to download another browser with? Providing software customization at the retail level will be a right bitch for vendors all over.
Then there’s the Obvious: Apple bundles Safari with OS X, but you don’t see the EU going all anti-trust on them. It’d be pretty hilarious for the EU to get its way, then realise that the next batch of 20,000 (or whatever number) computers they order for government use don’t come with a browser on them.
