I don’t know why I’m still awake. I’m tired as heck and I stopped playing Splinter Cell Double Agent (XBOX360 baby! Now I just have to find Gears of War) just after 9. It’s almost like I’ve got chronic insomnia, except that I eventually fall asleep and wake up even more exhausted. Again.

And I’m shifting store tomorrow. Shitloads of night-fighting equipment… I’ve got 46 cupboards worth of it under me, all very expensive. And we apparently have one of the biggest signal stores around. 10 companies, 1 battalion and 1 HQ… 2 Special Warfare wings, 3 training wings and we’ve still got enough to support a couple of external units. I don’t think I’ll be having dinner at home… looking at the amount of stuff we have to move, we’ll be busy the whole day and then some.

We (The Fire Fight) tracked drums and bass at Leonard’s on Saturday. I don’t like how I play… But I’m guessing if I just pop in a Fender bass into the mix instead of whatever fancy schmancy shit I’ve got, it’d sound fine. Better, maybe. But it’s just a single, so I won’t trouble the rest of the guys… Recording time is expensive.

We’re playing every week in June. I hope we can kick ass at the Anberlin/Copeland show… we’d probably have more fun at Rock for Good, but it’d be great either way.

D: If you still read this, could you tell me what’s wrong? Email me or something.
I know it’s a bit strange of me to be asking when the situation’s like it is but I am, nonetheless.

Let your ego get to you and you get blinded by the glory that you aim for. Just because you’ve had your break does not grant you poetic license to act like a rockstar. Just because you know things does not give you the right to look down on others because I’m willing to bet that you weren’t privy to things beforehand.

I spent the last 3 hours catching up on Lost. WHOA. Also, I want this:

I’ve been listening to Pino Palladino’s lines on the John Mayer Trio album for a while already. Apart from being ridiculously impressed when it first came out, I’m trying to go deeper and deconstruct his lines — you wouldn’t believe how musical they are. The man is a genius, just like how ABBA has songs with weird-assed timings that are so subtle you wouldn’t notice unless you bothered to count the beats. And Muse, with their song that’s in 18/16 — which technically can be simplified to 9/8 but the beat wouldn’t sound as right — which is actually broken down in to 10/8 + 8/8 = 5/4 + 4/4. &c.

Okay, I’ve got to wake up in 5 hours to book in. Goodnight.

My muscles are aching, my neck kinda hurts from looking down so much and my ears are still slightly ringing, the place was pretty dodgy (teal walls automatically make any place dodgy), but I wouldn’t have given up last night for the world. Thank you, everybody who came down and helped make it an amazing first gig. I don’t know how many bands get egged on to do an encore at their first show (haha Aaron) but the fact that we actually did makes it even more special. It’s pretty funny because nobody knows our names or anything else about us yet ;)

Jon Chan says I look like a small boy on stage! Apparently my bass sounded damn good though. I never heard how it sounded through the house, but Hemsley (and a few other people) came up to me and complimented me on it; that really made my night.
